Our Vision - To provide accommodation for ageing parents and their adult disabled son or daughter.    'Looking to the interests of others' Philippians 2:4

The Vision in detail

Mission Statement - The provision of accommodation for people with a disability whose parents/Carer has moved into retirement accommodation within the Angus Bristow Village and then on a needs basis into the future.

Goal - to provide accommodation for people aged 35+ with a developmental disability that have lived at home with ageing parents. To then seek opportunities for residents to live fulfilling and have rewarding whole of life experiences. To develop gifts and ability in a family like atmosphere, to be trained and supported to become as self-sufficient and self-supporting as is practical.

In short, our proposal is to provide:-

  • Supported accommodation by means of two (2) cluster homes each of six to eight bedrooms each with its own ensuite. The house would also have a kitchen/ dining room/ lounge/ situated in a normal residential street setting. The communal areas will be large enough for residents and their guests. Accommodation would be provided on a licence deed of loan basis. Ongoing maintenance and care will be set at a price reflecting the need of the resident. Furnishing and decorating of the resident’s private living area would be their responsibility. Both homes will be wheelchair accessible to all points within house. A recreational area and community facilities. Cluster Homes having a street frontage and address with the appearance of a large suburban home. Self-care units available for parents of the disabled based on the understanding that there is great benefit to all in maintaining the familiar supporting nexus for as long as possible and that security of tenure is very important as is a stable, non-institutional supportive environment. The present stock of self care units are made up of one (1), two (2) and three (3) bedrooms. A sixty (60) bed serviced apartment for the frail aged and disabled. (To be built in conjunction with the cluster houses in order to provide a variety of support in areas such as supervision – where needed, assistance with and training of daily independent living skills, home help, security, meals and medication needs).  This project offers the possibility of 24 hour staffing on an individual needs basis. E.g. A resident home unwell during the day could be monitored by hostel staff if this was seen as needed. Night support will also be available by means of a security call system. The style of accommodation will allow and give opportunity for similar opportunities to those in the general community. Lifetime tenure or opportunity to move to serviced apartment care as age and support needs increase. The philosophy of the organisation is to provide on and off site working options accessing all workshops in the area plus training programs on site. To provide independent living, training and support mechanisms where needed. Bus transport is available with a 5 minute walk. A shopping center is situated within 2 kilometers of the village.
  • All accommodation and grounds will be wheelchair accessible.
